Janice has been an Independent Educational Consultant since 2012. She is the founder and President of Royal College Consulting based in southern California. Her formal education includes a BA in American Studies from California State University, Long Beach where she graduated Summa cum Laude and was selected for admission to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Janice attended Claremont Graduate University on a full tuition scholarship and earned a MA in American Studies.

After graduation Janice worked as a Project Manager, Product Manager, and Marketing Manager for insurance companies over the course of nearly 20 years until her youngest child was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. Upon learning of her child’s diagnosis, she retired from the corporate world to learn everything about parenting, educating, and encouraging children who are neurodiverse. This journey led Janice to the area of college counseling as she discovered that college planning resources were scarce for students living with ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other learning differences. Seeking to change this for her community, she earned a College Counseling Certificate from UC Riverside, became a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and a member of the Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA). Through these organizations she has earned hundreds of hours of continuing education on college planning for neurodiverse students. Janice has also personally visited over 300 colleges and universities across the nation.

Janice lives with her husband of 34 years, Rob, in Costa Mesa and two rescued Bichon Frise-poodles. Her oldest daughter graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from Montana State University, Bozeman. And her youngest is studying Biology at Concordia University Irvine and playing in its jazz band.
